Bring a School Supply for Your Teacher

I had to share what my students got me for Teacher Appreciation Week today. It was so sweet how so many of them put in the effort to just bring me a green (my favorite color) pen! One of my students even remembered my favorite wipes. I loooooooooove Lysol Dual Action Wipes! They honestly are the bomb dot com with cleaning anything up. I use them on everything!

Share your Teacher Appreciation gifts with me! :)

Happy Monday and God Bless!

Earth Day!

MY EARTH DAY DOOR!

Loved making this poster, and yes I also made the little Earth faces from scratch! Took me a while to get the continents right but it worked out fine! Just green and blue paper!

I actually got inspired by an idea from Mrs. Jahnig's blog! I saw the cute phrase and loved it!

The little "Eh" face is what cracks me up LOL

The little black pictures are my students' traced hands that have been cut out of black paper! Then on the back I had them look through magazines for strips or cool designs they liked to glue on the other side. They then looked for letters to spell "Earth Day" on the bottom of their half sheet.

I guess you could modify this design by asking them to look for pictures about the Earth. The whole point was for them to feel like art was fun, even on Earth Day!

I hope you like it! :)

God bless and Happy Week!

School Supplies & Made-It Early!

Sooooo, I went a little school supplies crazy today because my state has TAX-FREE this week but it was actually really pointless for school supplies; tax-free only applies for clothing or shoes. lol

Let's start with all that I bought for $18 bucks at Walgreens:

2 BIC colorful pen sets, 2 10-piece PaperMate lead pencils, 3 2-packs of Elmer glue sticks, 2 Penway colored pencils, 3 2-pack of Papermate profile pens, and 12 scissors for $0.49 each! *dusts shoulders* YEAH, I did pretty good. I also got teeth whiting strips for $9.99 for 14 days on sale for Open House day!

MADE-IT EARLY
So I stayed up until 6 am this morning making these cute little touches for my classroom! I really like this idea I saw on Pinterest where each day of the week has its own box to put your plans so I found these little magazine holders for like $1 at the thrift store and last night I spent my day covering them in brown package paper. I'm not sure yet how I'm going to decorate them but I'll be sure to post!

You can tell that there are 5 boxes for each day of the week. The white with black striped cardboard next to it is what it used to look like before I covered it.
Tell me this is not the CUTEST little thing you've ever seen! For once, something on Pinterest came out somewhat right. lol It took my a while last night to get it sort of perfect but in total this little masterpiece cost me $3 with materials from the Dollar Tree!

That's all for today, God bless and Happy Sunday!

DIY - Classroom Stool!

Heeeeelloo fellow teachers! :)

So you might ask what time of the year it is. Well let me tell you, it's.... "Teacher-spends-too-much-money-on-school-supplies-and-spends-most-of-her-time-on-Pinterest-looking-at-classroom-decor TIME!"

Okay, that was a little long but, hey, it makes sense. I'm pretty sure that's what 99% of us are doing! Well I came today because I really want to get into the habit of posting the things I have bought (which is way too much to even count) and made, and will make!

The only goodie I have today is a colorful classroom stool I made! I'm sure that you have seen it EVERYWHERE on Pinterest. Like here at Hooty's Homeroom!

So I started with my plain brown stool I actually bought at a Thrift Store for like $3 bucks. Yeah, I KNOW!
It took a lot of mixing and a lot of tries. My advice is to use primer and DO NOT SPRAY PAINT! Primer and spray paint did not make very goods friends. I used acrylic paint I bought at Michael's and then they had a "Clear Varnish" on sale for like $1.79 and so it worked out. I gave it two coats and well... we'll see how it stands up

This is my too-late-for-Monday Monday Make it! Hope I remember to post soon! Especially all of my lovely purchases.

God bless!
